The future of the Retail Supply Chain
Demand Driven MRP is spreading in industry and distribution. The methodology focuses on agility to cope with more and more unpredictability through the implementation of dynamic pull flow. DDMRP’s advocates stress that “forecasts are always wrong and should not trigger replenishment orders”.
Reversely, today’s technology enables the development of predictive algorithms. Their promise is to generate more accurate forecasts based on the analysis of multiple demand drivers, to reduce the uncertainty the companies are facing.
Both methodologies seem to bring benefits to the retailers that implemented them.
